Guitar Ensemble

With the apothegm “We play as one”, the St Gabriel Secondary School’s Guitar Ensemble has long since established an efficacious repertoire with her establishment back in January 2007. Under the intuitive baton and patronage of her two instructors, Mr Daniel Lim and Mr Raj, the ensemble has soared to great heights not only in the facets of prestigious performances, but also in aspiring young guitarists with an ever evolving enthusiasm and passion for the vibrant art.

Brimming with affection for the instrument fused with the abidance of discipline and respect, the Guitar Ensemble has once again succeeded in maintaining her level of expertise through the clinching of Certificate of Distinction for the biennial SYF competition as a testament to their hard work and perseverance since 2010; Silver (2011), Certificate of Accomplishment (2013), Certificate of Commendation (2015) and Certificate of Distinction (2017).

The Guitar Ensemble has also placed great emphasis on overseas performances and learning trips, with her most recent joint effort in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2016 alongside Yamaha Music School. These experiences have given the Mouradians an opportunity to develop their leadership and independence skills, as well as allowing them to display a spectrum of colorful music for the audience.

Under the flame of Labor Omnia Vincit, the ensemble has labored hard to achieve distinguished accomplishments.

Drama and Debate Society

Established in 2015, St. Gabriel’s Drama and Debate Society is the latest addition of the family of Performing Arts to provide a platform for students to develop their interest in theatrical arts, as well as to hone their oratorical and critical thinking skills.

Here in the Drama and Debate society, we firmly believe in nurturing and grooming talents from scratch. All secondary one students will go through a comprehensive one-year modular programme where they will spend six months of personalised coaching conducted by our Drama and Debate coaches respectively. At the end of the programme, students will decide on which track (Drama or Debate) they hope to specialise in.

Through our customized and progressive programmes, we aim to inculcate and nurture a love for theatrical arts and debating in our members through Drama and Debate activities. Additionally, members will also be able to learn and acquire useful skills in effective communication and creative expression.

At the end of their secondary school journey, every member will be empowered to effectively advocate, influence and effect a lasting and meaningful change in their lives and the community at large.

St. Gabriel's Drama and Debate Society has also far exceeded any expectations in its debut year.
Despite being the youngest addition to the Gabrielite family, we have now grown to about 40 members strong and counting. Since 2015, we have put up performances in numerous school events, and have participated in several national competitions. The numerous accolades that we have garnered over a short span of 2 years will also bear testimony to our strive towards holistic excellence.
