One Day a Week of National Home-Based Learning

2020-04-01

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, schools have implemented a strict regime of precautionary measures to keep our students safe. To better support safe distancing, our schools will progressively transit to a blended learning model, while continuing to remain open.

From Apr 2020, schools will introduce one day of National Home-Based Learning (NHBL) a week. Our school will be conducting NHBL on Thursdays, starting from 2 Apr 2020. This allows students and parents to be better prepared for more days of HBL should the situation call for it. Instructions and plans can be obtained from the NHBL portal [ tinyurl.com/sgsshbl ]. If you have any concerns on your son needing support on HBL, please alert his Form Teacher.

CCAs, external activities and those that involve mingling of students across schools will remain suspended for the rest of Term 2.

If you have any further queries, please contact our Vice Principal, Mr Aaron Chia at 62889470.

MOE Announcement: Schools will reopen on 23 March with enhanced precautionary measures

2020-03-19

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Schools will re-open for Term 2 on 23 Mar (Monday) as planned.

MOH has announced that 14-day Stay Home Notice (SHN) will be issued to returning Singapore Residents and visitors from all countries. To further protect our schools, MOE will implement additional precautionary measures by issuing a 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA) to students and staff who have been out of Singapore on or after 14 Mar.  Day zero of the 14 days of the LOA will commence from the date of their return to Singapore, and affected students should keep away from schools with immediate effect, i.e. from tomorrow (20 March) until the end of 14 days.  All affected students will be supported via home-based learning. You may approach your child’s school for clarifications.

We assure parents that all schools have been thoroughly cleaned and enhanced hygiene measures are in place.

MOE will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Information for Secondary Two Gabrielites on Subject Combination 2021

2020-03-17
Dear Parents/Guardians

The Secondary Two Gabrielites will be making the subject option choices at the end of the year. In order to help them make informed decisions on the subject combinations to choose, the school will be conducting briefings for them. We will also look into opportunities to provide the information to parents/guardians.

We are pleased to share the tentative subject combinations on offer in 2021.
We will be providing a set of information for each Upper Secondary subject at a later date.  This set of information will include each subject's curriculum content and assessment requirements, as well as the possible progression for post secondary school.

We will also conduct a Trial Subject Option Exercise after Term 2 so that Gabrielites learn where they stand based on their Semester 1 results, and take necessary actions to work towards their desired subject combinations at the end of the year.

We hope you take time to review the options available and discuss with your son/ward about their choices.

If you need any clarification or should you have any enquiry, please contact Mr Lin Ganfeng @ Lim Hong Shang via email at lim_hong_shang@moe.edu.sg.

Thank you and have a safe term break.

MOE Announcement: Travel advisory against all non-essential travel abroad

Dear Parents/Guardians,

With immediate effect, Singaporeans are advised to defer all non-essential travel abroad. This advisory will apply for 30 days, and will be reviewed thereafter. This is to reduce the risk of Singaporeans contracting COVID-19 while overseas during this global pandemic.

Singapore has also increased border restrictions to more countries, including all ASEAN countries, Japan, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with a 14-day Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) for arrivals from 16 Mar 11.59 pm, with exemption of those travelling into Singapore from Malaysia via sea or land. Click to access MOH’s press release for more information.

You are advised to review your travel plans during the March school holidays, and check the MOH website for the latest measures as well as list of countries that are subject to SHN requirements.

Should there be changes to your child’s travel plans, please amend your travel declarations on Parents Gateway by Tuesday, 17 Mar, 5 pm.  Use this link if you need help.

Thank you and stay safe.

Precautionary Measures to Keep Our School Safe

2020-03-09

Personal Responsibility

Please ensure your son brings an Oral Digital Thermometer to school everyday.

As this is a personal responsibility of all students, we will require students without their personal Oral Digital Thermometers to purchase one or return home to retrieve one before he can be allowed to continue with the day’s curriculum.

While teachers actively look out for students’ well-being, please ensure your son practises good personal hygiene and social responsibility. You should take your son to the doctor if he is unwell and we would appreciate it if you keep your son at home until he recovers.
